Caroline Rudolphine Unterberg  was born to  Georg Heinrich Unterberg & Christiane Hanning on 16th January 1796. She married Carl Heinrich Wilhelm Bohn  but was widowed  at the age of 38. She was left to raise five daughters and one son between the ages of sixteen and three. An infant son had died in 1823 and a three year old daughter later died in 1831.

Caroline had a son with Heinrich Nagel, miner and road worker, in 1837 and they married three years later on 3rd May 1840 at Paul-Gerhardt Church, a Protestant church in the old town centre of Lauthenthal. Her 19 year old daughter Henriette Georgina died in 1940 a month after her marriage.

Five years later her eldest daughter married her husbands youngest brother Johann Christian Ernst Louis Nagel.

Heinrich and Caroline immigrated to Australia in 1846 on the ship Heerjeebhoy Rustomjee Patel with their son Wilhelm Friedrich Christian Nagel, aged 9, and Caroline’s younger children,  Johann Heinrich Christian Bohn aged 13, Christiane Caroline Juliane Bohn aged 15, and Caroline Wilhelmine Bohn aged 20.
